Caitlin Clark technical foul being appealed by Fever, according to report

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is basking in the glow of being named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week by the WNBA this week. She's been breaking records, left and right, as she always does, but this past week has brought even more fanfare. It's been pretty awesome for her fans to watch.

But, she's also in dangerous territory as far as technical fouls. Clark got her seventh technical foul during her game on Wednesday against the Connecticut Sun, and now, she's just one technical foul away from getting an automatic one-game suspension.

According to ESPN's Alexa Philippou, the Fever are appealing the foul. She broke the news during an episode of NBA Today, which aired on Thursday.

During the interview, Philippou says that she's been "told by a team source that the technical foul from yesterday has been appealed. Not yet heard a decision." She added that the team "also appealed the technical foul [Clark] was given during their July 18 game against the New York Liberty. That one was not rescinded."

So, why did Clark get the technical foul on Wednesday? It was after some back-and-forth dialogue between Clark and Sun guard Saniya Rivers that appeared to turn nasty.

"She said she was locking me up, so I said, 'Scoreboard,' and the ref didn't like that," Clark told reporters after the game, according to ESPN.

But Clark added that she's "never going to back down" and won't change based on fouls.
