Joe Buck reveals favorite World Series-clinching call

Ahead of going into the broadcast wing of the MLB Hall of Fame on Sunday, legendary broadcaster Joe Buck sat down with Bob Costas to discuss all things related to his broadcasting career.

One of the topics discussed during the conversation was surrounding Buck's favorite World Series clinching call of his career. The response was a bit surprising coming from the St. Louis native, but it made sense considering the circumstances.

Joe Buck reveals the Cubs call was his favorite

"The Cubs, win the World Series. Bryant makes the play. It's over and the Cubs, have finally won it all." That was the legendary call made by Buck on Nov. 3, 2016, when the Chicago Cubs knocked off the Cleveland Indians 8-7 in 10 innings to win their first World Series since 1908.

In an interview provided to Yardbarker from MLB Network, Buck explained why that call outweighed and stood out among other drought-clinchers like the Boston Red Sox in 2004 and the Chicago White Sox in 2005.

"I think the Cubs," Buck told Costas. "Sitting at Wrigley Field for the first time in a World Series since the 1940s and then proclaiming them as World Series Champions for the first since before World War I. You don't have to be a great historian to realize the importance of that and know where baseball fits into that."

Buck also described getting to call the Red Sox breaking an 86-year drought as "incredible" and also talked about being spoiled with the Red Sox and White both breaking long droughts in consecutive years.
