Warriors have an obvious free-agency alternative to LeBron James

After weeks of speculation, LeBron James decided to take his talents to the City of Brotherly Love.

The four-time NBA champion will sign a two-year pact with the Philadelphia 76ers, including a player option in the second year.

That left multiple teams hanging, including the Golden State Warriors, one of his most aggressive suitors.

Considering that, general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. will have no choice but to pivot, making DeMar DeRozan a no-brainer candidate.

The Warriors should sign DeMar DeRozan

While DeRozan is no LeBron James, he's probably the best the rest of the league can aspire to get at this point.

As crazy as it may sound, he might even play a similar role in Steve Kerr's offense, even if he's an entirely different type of player.

Like LeBron, he's a non-shooter, and while he doesn't have James' playmaking and court vision, he's a selfless guy who can always create for others.

The Warriors would reportedly stay put if James didn't sign, but DeRozan, an Oakland native, can probably give them a hometown discount to pursue a ring with his hometown team.

Stephen Curry needs and deserves more help, and they can't afford to just rest on their laurels because James snubbed them.

Last season, he proved that, even at his age, he could still be a difference-maker and carry a team to contention, but there's only so much he can do on his own.

The Warriors owe it to him to find him another sidekick, and DeRozan is the best of the bunch right now.
