Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay offered some information about Aaron Donald’s potential comeback bid.

McVay on Saturday said Donald is going through a “very strict” process as the defensive tackle decides whether he wants to play again.

The Rams coach said he is genuinely unsure whether or not Donald will return, but that the Rams are not trying to push him either way.

“I know he’s preparing himself to be able to make that decision. And if he feels good, then you guys know he’s going to be ready to rock,” McVay said. “But if not, he’s earned the right. He doesn’t owe us anything.”

McVay did not offer any potential timetable for Donald’s decision. The Rams, it seems, may not even know themselves when that decision might be made.

Donald has been teasing a comeback ever since the Rams acquired Myles Garrett in a June 1 trade. There had been some talk that he might make a decision before the start of training camp, but Rams veterans reported on Saturday, and his status is still in question. Presumably, he will want at least some time in training camp to get himself ready if he does return, but everyone is just guessing on a timetable at this point.
