Denny Hamlin: Hendrick Motorsports 'needs a Snickers' amid slump

Hendrick Motorsports hasn't put a car inside the top 10 in the last three NASCAR Cup Series races.

The winningest team in NASCAR history hasn't looked like itself in recent weeks, and fans are starting to take notice, according to Denny Hamlin.

"I looked at [Hendrick's] graphic after the race," Hamlin said on Monday's edition of "Actions Detrimental." "Stewart-Haas, they were getting beat like a drum in their comments the last year of their existence. The old Hendrick bros, they're starting to get in there."

Hendrick's fans are clearly frustrated with the team's recent lack of results. Alex Bowman, who finished 19th, was the organization's highest-finishing driver in Sunday's Brickyard 400.

Denny Hamlin: Hendrick needs a Snickers

"They need to have a Snickers," Hamlin said. "They've not been [themselves] in a while. It's not really indicative of their speed. They've always got a couple cars that are in the top five or near the top five. But just the standard [that] we expect from Hendrick Motorsports from the legacy, we expect lots of race wins. When I see William Byron in 12th [in points], that's mind-boggling to me."

HMS' only two victories this season have come from Chase Elliott, and with Elliott and Kyle Larson finishing 38th and 39th on Sunday, Carson Hocevar jumped up to fifth in the Cup Series standings and is now the highest Chevrolet driver in points.

Nobody at Hendrick can be happy with that reality, and they'll certainly be looking to fix it when the Cup Series returns to action at Iowa on Aug. 9.
