Joey Porter Jr.'s late inclusion to Steelers' PUP list leads to confusion

In the midst of the opening day excitement and expected reports, the Pittsburgh Steelers dropped a late addition to their injury report that has fans both confused and worried.  

Coming after the initial revealing of the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list, the Steelers added cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the group of players who missed the start of training camp on Tuesday afternoon.

And unlike with Jalen Ramsey and even Donte Kent, who had their injuries announced, explained and discussed by head coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Omar Khan, no further information was provided about Porter's setback, as the news came after the conclusion of the media sessions. 

While there are no official details about what Porter is dealing with or how long he will be out, ESPN’s Brooke Pryor says a source told her Porter aggravated his back earlier in the morning after arriving in Latrobe. 

The current belief is that Porter's absence isn't due to anything serious, as that would've then been disclosed. However, the Steelers' second-round pick from the 2023 NFL Draft is eligible for a contract extension, something that's led to speculation about the need to be extra cautious.
