Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert hasn't won a Super Bowl, but he'll soon be wearing another ring.
On Tuesday, Herbert announced his engagement to pop star Madison Beer. The couple has been together for close to a year. Dating rumors began in August 2025 when the QB was spotted with the singer at one of her photo shoots.
The couple shared the news in a joint post. "Meet my fiancé," wrote Beer in the caption.
Herbert can now enjoy wedding planning and, perhaps, even more on-field success. QBs who have recently popped the question just before or during the NFL season have fared quite well.

Below, we've listed the engagement dates of three notable QBs: Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills), Jared Goff (Detroit Lions) and Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams). We've also attached a chart with their starting records, passing yardage and passing touchdowns from the seasons they did so.
| QB |
Starting record |
Passing yards |
Passing TDs |
| Allen |
13-4 in 17 games for Bills |
3,731 (No. 14 in NFL) |
28 (tied for No. 7 in NFL) |
| Goff |
9-8 in 17 games for Lions |
4,438 (No. 6 in NFL) |
29 (tied for No. 5 in the NFL) |
| Stafford |
11-5 in 16 games for Lions |
4,257 (No. 9 in NFL) |
22 (No. 14 in the NFL) |
Allen performed the best among these QBs, winning 2024 league MVP in a tight race with Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. In the postseason, he led the Bills to the AFC Championship Game. They lost that contest to the Kansas City Chiefs, 32-29.
Stafford didn't win any awards or a playoff game, but he made the first of three Pro Bowl appearances. Goff also reached the Pro Bowl and finished sixth in 2022 Comeback Player of the Year voting after going 3-10-1 in his first season in Detroit in 2021.
Their respective engagements were life-changing for each of these QBs, but credit their on-field success to football-related reasons, most notably coaching changes.
Each of these QBs was entering their first full season under a new play-caller. The Bills removed the interim tag from Joe Brady (now the team's head coach) after the 2023 season and named him the team's full-time offensive coordinator in 2024. The Lions promoted former tight ends coach Ben Johnson (now Chicago Bears HC) to OC in 2022.
Stafford experienced more significant coaching changes before the 2014 season. Detroit hired HC Jim Caldwell and OC Joe Lombardi, who served as the team's play-caller.
For those who wonder if Herbert has a new play-caller, the answer would be yes. This offseason, former Miami Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel replaced Greg Roman as OC.
Don't be surprised if McDaniel has a big impact in L.A. ESPN's Ben Solak recently told Awful Announcing's Michael Grant that "[McDaniel's] one of the three or four best offensive minds in the league," along with Johnson, San Francisco 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan and others.
McDaniel turned QB Tua Tagovailoa (now with the Atlanta Falcons) into a Pro Bowler in Miami. Imagine what he could do with Herbert, tied for fifth in the NFL in passing TDs (163) since 2020.
Looks like 2026 is going to be a big year for Herbert.
