Report reveals how rival teams feel about JJ McCarthy’s future

JJ McCarthy may have lost his job as the Minnesota Vikings’ starting quarterback, but the NFL is not ready to give up entirely on him.

Other NFL teams have started to gather information on McCarthy in case the Vikings decide to move him, and opinions are split. However, there is a consistent belief that McCarthy will likely get another chance to start in the NFL, either with Minnesota or elsewhere, according to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

The former No. 10 overall pick is still just 23 and no one doubts his physical talent. Some teams, however, think he will ultimately become a backup in the mold of Zach Wilson due to his lack of consistency.

Though McCarthy went 6-4 as a starter for Minnesota last season, he threw for 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and lost his job by the end of the season. The Vikings made it a priority to add competition for him, and Kyler Murray was ultimately signed and won the starting job in camp.

McCarthy has shown the right attitude since losing the job, and indicated that he wants to stay in Minnesota. Perhaps the Vikings have not given up on him as a player, but he has a lot of work to do to prove himself worthy of starting again.
