Randy Arozarena joins exclusive history with another leadoff home run

Less than 24 hours after hitting a leadoff home run, robbing a home run and hitting a game-winning walk-off home run all in one game, the Seattle Mariners left fielder joined an exclusive list in MLB history with another leadoff home run against the Chicago Cubs.

Randy Arozarena joins the 20-20 club for a sixth consecutive season

Arozarena's home run on Sunday was his 20th of the season, giving him a sixth straight season with 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases.

With that, Arozarena is just the fifth player in MLB history to do so, joining Bobby Bonds, Barry Bonds, Bobby Abreu and Willie Mays.

Arozarena's two-game stretch of two leadoff homers and a walk-off homer made him just the second player in MLB history to accomplish that feat, joining Cubs outfielder Pete-Crow Armstrong who accomplished the feat less than a week ago.

Seattle is trying to make another late postseason push

Seattle entered Sunday just three games out of first place in the AL West and two games out of the third AL wild-card spot. The Mariners are one of seven teams separated by less than three games for that wild-card position.

There is an argument to be made that at full strength with all cylinders clicking, Seattle is the top team of that seven with the offensive potential it has shown in recent years along with its top-notch pitching.

With the easiest September schedule in all of MLB, the Mariners have positioned themselves way to make a run at the postseason just one year after taking the Toronto Blue Jays to seven games in the ALCS.
