The NFL can get heated, and that means even teammates can end up fighting. It's a fairly common thing this time of year, when guys are getting back on the field and practicing, to see players on the same team duke it out with tensions high.
Well, that was the scene at the New York Giants' training camp on Wednesday. According to Giants beat reporter Pat Leonard of NY Daily News Sports, things got heated on the field between New York running back Cam Skattebo and his teammates.
According to a post from Leonard on X, and his first-person account, the running back "started a fight in practice."
Cam Skattebo started a fight in practice today. He slid down after a reception and came dangerously close to taking out a couple Giants DBs’ legs. The defense isn’t allowed to hit.

"He slid down after a reception and came dangerously close to taking out a couple of Giants DBs' legs," Leonard notes in his post. "The defense isn't allowed to hit. Jevon Holland and Greg Newsome did not appreciate it. The situation escalated between Skattebo and Newsome."
Leonard went so far as to pick a side, too.
"Skattebo has had it coming. He ran over linebacker Zaire Barnes the other day, too, when the defense wasn't hitting," he said. "His act is getting old to his defensive teammates."
SNY reporter Connor Hughes also reported that Skattebo initiated the heated moment with the two defensive backs and said the moment was a long time coming. Hughes also said that the running back has been talking trash to the secondary lately.
"There was a scuffle initiated by Cam Skattebo with Greg Newsome, Jevon Holland. That was a long time coming. Skattebo has been talking trash to the secondary most of the summer," Hughes stated.
If it's the case that Skattebo is "talking trash" to the secondary, there's no room for that in the NFL. Show some respect. Hopefully, things cool down by the start of the season.
