NFL Week 2 winners, losers: Jalen Hurts gets it done; Dak Prescott sets record

Denzel Boston, WR, Cleveland Browns. The Browns quieted a lot of critics with their 23-19 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and their second-round rookie wide receiver made another huge play to help jumpstart it. 

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Seattle Seahawks. No Sam Darnold? No problem for the NFL's reigning Offensive Player of the Year. Smith-Njigba was unstoppable, even with Drew Lock throwing to him, in a 31-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Smith-Njigba caught nine passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns. 

Cody White, WR, Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders are 2-0 and have done so while getting zero snaps from tight end Brock Bowers. White gets a mention in the winners column for catching two touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He entered the day with only 11 catches and one touchdown over five years in his career. 

Brock Purdy, QB, San Francisco 49ers. Pure dominance over the Miami Dolphins. He finished 20-of-22 for 287 yards and two touchdowns. The 49ers have played two games, and they have dominated two games. 

Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys rolled over the Washington Commanders, and quarterback Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes to lead the way. That fourth touchdown made him the Cowboys' all-time franchise leader in touchdown passes. 

NFL Week 2 Losers

Pittsburgh Steelers offense. They have played two weeks and scored one touchdown on offense. The offense has also allowed a touchdown. Everybody is to blame for this mess. 

Atlanta Falcons quarterback situation. It probably would not have mattered given the way Bryce Young played for the Carolina Panthers, but the Falcons quarterback situation is grim. Cooper Rush was so bad he ended up getting benched for Jack Strand, and Strand played like an undrafted rookie out of a Division II school. Can Michael Penix Jr. fix this?

New York Jets. The Jets had a chance to improve to 2-0 and absolutely self-destructed late. After reaching midfield with two minutes to play, they were stopped on a fourth-and-one, won the coin toss in overtime, took the football, went three-and-out (while losing eight yards), and then allowing the Green Bay Packers to march down the field for the game-winning chip-shot field goal. 

Quarterback injuries. Just an absolutely devastating day for major quarterback injuries as Chicago Bears superstar Caleb Williams left with a hamstring injury, while  Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a gruesome elbow injury during a brutal sequence to end the first half against the Cowboys.

Baker Mayfield's revenge game. Mayfield has played two career games against the team that drafted him and traded him, and he has lost them both. He has been sub-par through two games after signing his big contract extension. 

Los Angeles Chargers. They opened the season with two home games against the Cardinals and Raiders, two of the worst teams in the NFL on paper. They lost them both. Now they play one of the toughest six-week stretches in the league.
