ESPN's Top 25 college football ranking has a fresh look going into Week 4

Week 3 brought another dollop of shakeups to the college football landscape, with several ranked teams putting their spots on the line and a few results changing the conversation around the country.

The most talked-about game of the weekend, of course, happened in Oxford, where Ole Miss pulled off a statement win against LSU. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and first-year Rebels head coach Pete Golding led Ole Miss to a 32-24 victory over the No. 7 Tigers.

Oxford wasn't the only place where a ranked matchup produced fireworks, though. Friday night's Big 12 opener saw No. 13 Texas Tech erase a deficit and edge No. 22 Houston, 28-26.

Week 3 results are already shaking up the college football picture

There's a lot to like about this point in the college football season, when the early excitement is starting to turn into something much bigger. Teams are finding out what they really have, ranked matchups are carrying more weight and one Saturday can completely change the way a team is assessed and falls in the college football rankings. 

With conference play picking up and the playoff picture slowly beginning to take shape, every week brings another chance for a surprise result. A statement win or a team nobody was talking about a few weeks ago can suddenly become part of the Top 25.

Those results won't be fully reflected in the next AP Top 25 until Sunday's poll is released, but ESPN's Football Power Index has already started reacting to what happened on the field.
