Packers provide injury update after Jayden Reed exits on stretcher in Week 2 vs. Jets

Green Bay Packers fourth-year wide receiver Jayden Reed suffered a scary injury in a road game against the New York Jets on Sunday.

On the second play of Green Bay's opening drive, Reed caught a four-yard pass from quarterback Jordan Love, and linebacker Demario Davis tackled him. The WR didn't get back up and was carted off the field on a stretcher. The entire Packers sideline came onto the field to watch the medical crew take Reed off.

Shortly after, the Packers shared that Reed had been ruled out with a neck injury.

What do you need to know about Jayden Reed?

This offseason, the Packers signed 2023 second-round pick Reed to a three-year, $50.25M deal, hoping he would continue to be a sparkplug for their passing attack. When healthy, the former Michigan State Spartans star has been an explosive playmaker for the NFC North squad.

During his rookie season, Reed led the team in receiving yards (793) and receptions (64). Since then, the WR has become a staple of the team's offense, but injuries have kept him from reaching the next level. In 2025, he battled a foot issue in training camp and broke his collarbone in Week 2, missing 11 games. He finished the 2025 season with 22 receptions for 207 yards and one TD catch.

The injury's severity remains unknown, but if Reed misses a significant period again, it would hamper the Packers passing attack, which looked erratic in Week 1. In a 39-22 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Love completed 21-of-42 passes for 387 yards, tossing two TDs and one interception. Reed had three receptions for 20 yards.

Love's accuracy issues may tie to his effort to build chemistry with less-seasoned targets, like second-year WR Matthew Golden. They'd better find it soon. Golden and others will need to step up if Reed misses multiple games.
