Christian McCaffrey makes rare NFL history in 49ers win

The San Francisco 49ers are off to a perfect 2-0 start with two double-digit wins to open the season.

Christian McCaffrey and company crossed the Pacific Ocean and picked up an easy win over the Los Angeles Rams and followed it up with another big win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

The veteran running back had two rushing touchdowns Sunday and made NFL history in the process.

McCaffrey went scoreless in Week 1 as the 49ers cruised to a 27-7 win in Australia. Week 2 was a much different story, even if the yardage total wasn't impressive.

He had 10 rushes for 23 yards, but two of the rushes went for touchdowns. That gives him 50 total with the 49ers, matching his 50 touchdowns with the Carolina Panthers to begin his career.

The 50-50 mark puts McCaffrey into rare company in NFL history, per ESPN Insights.

McCaffrey joins Randy Moss and Marshall Faulk as the only players in NFL history to score 50+ touchdowns for two separate teams. That is an incredible feat for a player who is still only 30 years old.

He accomplished the feat Sunday with the aforementioned 23 yards on 10 carries, adding 43 yards on four receptions. He could have been involved even more if the 49ers weren't cruising to such an easy 35-13 victory over the Dolphins.

McCaffrey finished the 2025 season with over 2,000 scrimmage yards following a 2024 season marred by injuries. Otherwise, he may have easily reached this record mark a season earlier.
