Dak Prescott, Cowboys get back to showing true potential of offense

A week after opening the 2026 season with an underwhelming effort against the Giants, the Dallas Cowboys offense showed more of its true potential in a win over another NFC East rival. 

On Sunday, Dak Prescott rebounded from his Week 1 struggles to lead the Cowboys to victory. Prescott only completed 22-of-34 passes for 175 yards with a pick in Dallas' 28-20 loss to New York on Sept. 13. However, he followed that mediocre outing by going 26-of-31 for 279 yards as the Cowboys scored 37 points on Washington.

Prescott, who entered the 2026 season on a mission to get Dallas back in the playoffs, got back to the type of production more common for the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback. And he did it without much help on the ground - Dallas only ran for 66 yards collectively out of their total of 332 yards of offense. 

Prescott found CeeDee Lamb all game long 

But he managed to get his top weapon involved through the air. CeeDee  Lamb carried most of the receiving load, catching eight passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns. 

Prescott found his favorite target and kept feeding him a week after Lamb only recorded 44 yards despite eight targets. With Lamb going off, George Pickens didn't need to explode as well, although he did make six receptions on the day.
