Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes joins Tom Brady in elite NFL history

Don't look now, but Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes might be getting back to his MVP form.

Despite suffering a torn ACL toward the end of the 2025 season, Mahomes and the Chiefs are 2-0, with wins over the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts.

On Sunday night, Harrison Butker's kick gave the Chiefs a 33-30 win as time expired in overtime.

Mahomes played well once again, finishing with 382 yards and three touchdowns, as Kenneth Walker III had another strong game with 117 yards.

It also marked Mahomes' 97th win of his career, which puts him right next to NFL legend Tom Brady.

Patrick Mahomes joins elite company with win

The top two spots are held by Peyton Manning (105) and Russell Wilson (104), so Mahomes is well on his way to breaking the record, at least with the way things have started for the Chiefs in 2026.

Here are two other notable achievements Mahomes notched on Sunday night.

Including the playoffs, Patrick Mahomes has 31 game-winning drives in the 4th quarter/OT since 2018 (most in that span).

In Week 1, Mahomes had 184 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the 31-10 blowout over the Broncos, who won the AFC West in 2025.

Coming into the season, questions swirled about how effective Mahomes would be after suffering the torn ACL. So far, he has lived up to expectations, and the Chiefs will try to continue their streak with a Week 3 road game against the Miami Dolphins.
