Paige Bueckers was nearly tased during her teammate's arrest

Shocking bodycam footage is showing that Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers was almost tased during her teammate’s arrest in March.

The footage released this week showed that Bueckers was among several WNBA players in the immediate area when Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale was arrested on March 5 outside of the nightclub Club E11EVEN in Miami, Florida. Responding officers were attempting to take Ogunbowale into custody when Bueckers, Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young, and others tried to intervene.

Bueckers was shown in the footage putting her arm around Ogunbowale and telling an officer, “We got her. We got her.” With the group around Ogunbowale having gotten so large at that point, the officer took out his taser and ended up pointing it at Bueckers’ face.

The officer did not ultimately deploy his taser though and eventually ended up handcuffing Ogunbowale without further incident. You can see the video at the link here.

The scene in question took place past 4 AM after Ogunbowale was accused of punching a man inside the nightclub (read the full details here). Ogunbowale and her fellow WNBA players were at the nightclub to celebrate Mist BC winning the 2026 Unrivaled championship earlier that night. Unrivaled is a women’s 3-on-3 basketball league that takes place during the WNBA offseason and has attracted many of the top stars in women’s hoops.

Ogunbowale was ultimately booked on one misdemeanor count of battery, but The New York Post reports that the charge against her was dropped in May. Bueckers and Ogunbowale continue to star for the Wings this season as the team has successfully clinched a WNBA playoff spot at 26-17.
