Former MLB second baseman and star Robinson Cano will carry his legacy through his son Robinson Cano Jr., who reportedly has signed a $1 million pre-agreement with the Miami Marlins.
The 16-year-old will be a part of the Marlins' 2028 international class.
While his father was known for his rhythmic left-handed swing, Cano Jr. is a right-handed shortstop who can also play second base like his dad.
Cano Sr. was also an eight-time All-Star, a World Series champion in 2009 with the New York Yankees and a five-time Silver Slugger. He also played for the Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves and notched a solid career .301 batting average with 335 home runs across 17 seasons.
Cano Jr. is a rising Dominican prospect and will carry a third-generation baseball lineage as his grandfather, Jose Cano, pitched for the Houston Astros in 1989.
According to my sources, Robinson Canó Jr., son of former Major League star Robinson Canó, has agreed to a $1 million pre-agreement with the Miami Marlins. Another promising Dominican prospect making his way onto the Major League radar! #MiamiMarlins #MLB #Baseball https://t.co/OY4xHDTsNY

Cano Jr. has already gained attention for his smooth swing mechanics, following in the footsteps of his father.
His projected upside as an amateur international prospect is that he contains solid hit-tool progression and is a promising defensive infielder.
His development will be critical as he looks to make his way into the majors while providing the Marlins with young talent. As a highly anticipated prospect, he will look to join other players who have honored their fathers in the big leagues, continuing to not only match but even surpass their legacy.
