You likely have heard about it by now, but something big is cooking at Deer Valley, Utah, amidst the Expanded Excellence initiative that’s massively broadening the ski resort’s footprint with new chairlifts and trails.

What does all this actually look like, though?

We now have an answer, thanks to the famed internet and ski personality, Donny Pelletier. He stopped by Deer Valley this summer to check out the new digs.

In the video, Pelletier has a chairlift chat with Todd Bennett, the president and COO of Deer Valley.

“I was gonna go get first tracks,” Pelletier told Bennett, also revealing that he had his own title: CPO, or chief parking officer.

“Well, you’re a little early,” replied Bennett. The two, of course, were surrounded by grassy, snowless slopes.

If anyone can ski without snow, though, it’s Pelletier. The wisecracking skier bills himself as “Maine’s Finest Athlete,” and when you’re the best, a bit of grass is no big deal (Pelletier, to those who haven’t been introduced, is the silly alter ego of Olympic mogul skier Troy Murphy).

Pelletier’s jokes and fooling around took place amidst the buzz of construction at Deer Valley. This coming season, the ski resort will debut seven new chairlifts, adding to the three chairlifts that opened last winter.

As the ski resort embarks on a multi-year expansion, the upcoming winter season is set to be a watershed moment—Deer Valley has more than doubled in size, and when the snow starts flying again, the ski resort will feature 4,300 skiable acres. Fittingly, Deer Valley calls Expanded Excellence “the largest resort expansion in ski industry history.”

The project, in short, is a huge deal, but that didn’t stop Pelletier from mining for more laughs, even after his video with Deer Valley was published.

Below the video, Bennett left a comment suggesting that Pelletier might eventually rock the green Deer Valley company colors.

It read, “Congrats on the promotion to Chief Parking Officer @donnypelletier207. Keep building those ops skills and hope to see you in green one day.”

Pelletier didn’t miss a beat: “You probly won’t see me on greens bub I only ski double blacks.”
