Tottenham looking to lure Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike to N17 amid strong competition from other PL and Saudi clubs
Tottenham are looking to bring in a new striker in the summer as Thomas Frank looks to compete on all four fronts next season. The Lilywhites already have Dominic Solanke and Richarlison in their ranks as the two ‘number nines.’ But Daniel Levy believes that a new striker might be needed as the North London club aims to build on the Europa League success next season.
Last summer’s statement signing Dominic Solanke endured a ‘stop-start’ first campaign at Spurs. The England international looked out of place in the initial months, and found life tough at N17 following his high-profile switch from Bournemouth. But it is fair to say that he made amends later on and played a crucial part in helping the club win the Europa League in May.
The same cannot be said about Richarlison though. The Brazil international has just got going during his time in North London. And the numerous injuries have halted his development at N17. The 28-year-old has failed to replicate the form that he once showed at Everton. And it is believed that the fans are running out of patience with the prolific striker.
There is no surprise that Tottenham are looking to sign a new striker to compete with Solanke next season. With Richarlison potentially heading for the exit doors in the summer, Daniel Levy is looking to bring in a better replacement that would fill the void left behind by the Brazilian.
It was reported earlier that Spurs were interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike in the summer. The Lilywhites have held a long-term interest in the 23-year-old and want to sign him to bolster the attack for next season. The report also stated that Frankfurt value the striker at £86.5m and would let him go if a suitable offer came in.

However, it is now believed that Spurs are not the only ones aiming to land the Frankfurt star. As per Fabrizio Romano (via X), Newcastle United, Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in the Frenchman as they look to add him to their ranks for next season. Not only them, but Saudi clubs Al Hilal and Al Qadsiah are also looking to test the waters for Ekitike’s signature. But it is believed that the player is keen to stay in Europe as of now.
Daniel Levy must act quick if he wants to land Ekitike in the summer. But one may understand if the Spurs chairman decides to opt out of the race for the prolific striker. The asking price is way too high and the Lilywhites simply cannot afford to spend most of their budge on a striker again. The North London club broke the bank just last season to sign Dominic Solanke, so it does not make sense to do that again for a player that plays in the same position.
