The agent of Lautaro Martinez says that his comments about Inter Milan teammate Hakan Calhanoglu were something that “happens on the pitch.”
Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano spoke to Italian outlet FCInterNews. He clarified the recent spat that has emerged between the two Nerazzurri players.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez recently made his feelings clear towards his teammate Hakan Calhanoglu.
This was in response to the constant transfer rumours around the Turkish international. Reportedly, he wants to leave Iner to join Galatasaray.
The Argentine made comments to the media after Inter’s exit from the Club World Cup against Fluminense. He declared that “whoever wants to leave, leave.”
Whilst Martinez did not name Calhanoglu directly, Inter President Beppe Marotta did state in no uncertain terms that he thought the remarks were in response to the former AC Milan midfielder’s tenuous situation.
At the same time, Lautaro Martinez was not just upset about the rumours surrounding Calhanoglu.
There was also the matter of Inter’s disappointing end to the season. Having missed out on all of the Coppa Italia, Champions League, and Serie A title, they also suffered an early exit from the Club World Cup.
Therefore, Martinez was almost certainly lashing out just to vent his feelings of frustration. Therefore, Calhanoglu would have just been a convenient target.
The Inter captain’s agent stated that “when a match isn’t going well, some things happen on the pitch.”
“They’re just things that happen on the pitch,” said agent Camano.
“But Inter are a great team,” he made perfectly clear.
