Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon is the example to follow for any player settling into a new club.
The attacker came in from Everton in the January transfer window, but struggled to play regularly.
Gordon worked hard in preseason to impress boss Eddie Howe and is now one of the first names on the team sheet.
Defender Dan Burn told The Monday Night Club: "I think in any club you need competition for places. I think when you see the same players playing week in, week out sometimes they can get a little complacent. You need people pushing you in training every week.
"I do feel like we've had that probably since the gaffer has came in. We've added some good players in various positions in the off season.
"I think as well, for the new lads that have come in - I've said this before and I'm not saying it because I think we're the best team in the world or anything like that - but it takes a while to play in this team. Just the amount of information you've got to take in, pressing, on the ball, different patters that we use, you've seen it with other signings.
"Anthony Gordon for example, he came in January and didn't hit the ground running as quickly as he would've liked, but if you look, he's been on fire at the start of the season and is getting used to playing with the players round him. I thought he was brilliant in Milan and brilliant against Sheffield United."
