Carlo Ancelotti says Dean Huijsen has ‘a lot of potential’ and ‘all the players that Real Madrid sign make me very excited’ even if he won’t coach the Spaniard next season.

Ancelotti praised new Real Madrid signing Huijsen as the Merengues confirmed the purchase of the ex-Juventus defender on Saturday.

“He is a great player, young, who has a lot of projection and a lot of potential,” the Italian tactician said at a press conference via Football Espana.

Ancelotti welcomes new Real Madrid signing

“The signing is very good. All the players that Real Madrid sign make me very excited, because Real Madrid always want to be at their best. Last year, it was unthinkable (to sign a centre-back) because we had the return of Alaba, Militao, and Carvajal. But injuries have hurt us.”

Ancelotti insisted that Real Madrid listened to his transfer suggestions, given that the club had signed Camavinga, Rüdiger, Tchouameni, Bellingham, and Mbappé during his second spell at the Bernabeu.

However, Ancelotti won’t coach Huijsen at Madrid next season, given that he’ll take charge of the Brazil national team next month. The Merengues are expected to hire Xabi Alonso as Ancelotti’s replacement.
