Anthony Martial contacted by two Russian clubs

Anthony Martial is once again searching for a new club after struggling to find a lasting home since leaving Manchester United.

The Frenchman departed Old Trafford in 2024 after nine years, bringing an end to a spell which promised far more than it ultimately delivered.

Martial scored 90 goals across 317 appearances for United, but recurring injuries prevented him from consistently reproducing his best form.

AEK Athens handed the forward a three-year contract following his release, with Martial scoring nine times in 24 appearances for the Greek side. However, his stay lasted just one season before he moved to Mexican giants Monterrey in September 2025.

That move proved even less successful, with Martial managing only one goal in 20 appearances before his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Now 30, the former United attacker finds himself available as a free agent and facing another major decision over his career.

According to L’Equipe, Anthony Martial is currently in contact with two Russian clubs, with CSKA Moscow and Krasnodar both exploring potential moves for the forward.

They are not alone in expressing an interest, however, as Malaga are also holding talks over a potential return to Spanish football.

The newly promoted La Liga side were initially named as a possible destination while L’Equipe claims Martial has also been contacted by another unnamed Spanish club.

Auxerre attempted to bring the former Monaco star back to France earlier in the summer by offering him a contract, although that approach appears unlikely to result in a deal.

No other French club has made a formal proposal despite several intermediaries reportedly offering Martial to teams across Ligue 1.

Martial is now waiting until the latest round of domestic and European fixtures has been completed before making his choice, ensuring every possible offer is on the table.

Another club could reportedly enter the race depending on results across Europe, meaning the attacker is in no rush to commit himself prematurely.

A decision is expected during the international break and should therefore arrive within the coming weeks.

Whichever option Martial selects will become the seventh senior club of his career, including his loan spell at Sevilla.

His next destination may also represent one of his final opportunities to revive a career which has drifted considerably since he was once regarded as one of Europe’s brightest attacking talents at United.
