Graeme Souness is a former legend of the game, and he recently called Bukayo Saka a cheat, saying the Arsenal man always dives when he loses control of the ball. Saka is one of the best right wingers in the world and has been delivering fine performances for club and country for a very long time.

The attacker has always been a top player since he broke into Arsenal’s first team and has blossomed under Mikel Arteta, who trusts him all the time. There is nothing that can change Arteta’s mind about Saka because the Spanish gaffer is sure he is the best right winger in his squad and has been delivering the best performances for the team.

Arteta’s Response to Souness

Saka is a top player, and his lack of consistency is often exaggerated, but Souness calling him a diver is new, and Arteta was asked about the comments of the Liverpool icon, and the Spaniard said via Goal:

“I haven’t heard it and I’m not going to make any comments about opinions.”

When pressed, he added: “I don’t know. We are open to opinions. It’s part of our job. It’s part of our roles. And those opinions have to be respected. Especially if they are done in a respectful way. And we are here to prove that we belong to this level, to this stage, and we certainly always have the intention and the ambition to improve and do better. That’s it.”

Handling Criticism at the Top

Saka is one of the top players in the world, and because he is always on the pitch to play for Arsenal, there is no doubt that he is a top player, so he must expect and understand the criticism he is facing. The scrutiny that comes with his status is part of the game.

Arteta’s measured response reflects his experience, and the manager will continue to back his star man. The criticism may be harsh, but it is also a sign of the high standards expected. Saka’s focus will remain on his performances.

The debate around his style of play is unlikely to disappear, but his quality is not in question. The winger’s ability to influence matches is what matters most. Arsenal’s faith in him remains absolute.
