Manchester United could eventually have a team competing in the Baller League following fresh comments made by the competition’s CEO.
The six-a-side indoor football competition has continued growing rapidly in popularity since launching in the UK.
Several former Manchester United figures have already become involved in the competition.
Former Manchester United midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba was recently announced as part of the Legends team for the Baller League Final Four event at the O2 Arena.
Former United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has also featured in the competition.
Angry Gine’s side Yanited signed former academy goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk earlier this season.
Now, the possibility of actual Premier League clubs joining the competition has been discussed publicly.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Baller League CEO Felix Starck admitted he believes Premier League clubs could soon become involved.
Starck claimed the competition is attracting younger audiences in ways traditional football sometimes struggles to do.
He suggested clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City could eventually use the format to develop younger players and connect with future fans.
The CEO also suggested academy talents could benefit from playing six-a-side football before fully transitioning into senior football.
Baller League has quickly become known for combining former footballers, influencers and unique rules inside a fast-paced indoor format.
Premier League legends including Alan Shearer, Ian Wright, Micah Richards and Daniel Sturridge are already involved with teams in the competition.
This season has reportedly become the most viewed edition of Baller League so far.
Starck also insisted six-a-side football should not be directly compared to the traditional 11-a-side game.
He claimed some elite Premier League defenders could even struggle within the quicker and more technical Baller League format.
Manchester United do not currently have an official team involved.
However, the club already has several links to the competition through former players and academy figures.
Following Starck’s latest comments, those connections could potentially grow much bigger in the near future.
