This evening saw a disappointing result for Manchester United, as the Red Devils failed to grab three points against bottom of the table Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves travelled to Old Trafford with only two points in 18 games, having drawn with Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton, but have failed to secure a win in the Premier League so far this season.
Unfortunately, Ruben Amorim headed into the game with Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire all out injured.
Alongside them in missing the game, Noussair Mazraoui, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo were also unavailable due to international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, despite the injuries, fans were still hopeful of a win given Wolves current run as the worst ever Premier League team on record.
It was not to be however, as Joshua Zirkzee’s 27th minute goal was equalised on the brink of half-time by Ladislav Krejci.
Whilst most people will want to move past this game and let the memory of it fade, it did mark a major occasion for Bendito Mantato.
The United academy graduate came on in the 75th minute, replacing struggling midfielder Manuel Ugarte, to make his debut for the Red Devils.
Although only featuring in the final 15 minutes, alongside fellow academy graduate Jack Fletcher who came on at half-time, having made his debut against Aston Villa just before Christmas.
Despite the limited game time, Mantato showed his potential, successfully making all five passes he attempted, however wasn’t enough to help United get a win at Old Trafford.
Now, Ruben Amorim and The Red Devils will prepare for their trip to Leeds United on 4th January for their first game of 2026, as they continue to struggle to break into the top five.
