Tottenham must recruit a reliable goalkeeper to replace Guglielmo Vicario next season.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, with Guglielmo Vicario having agreed personal terms with Inter Milan.

Vicario has been the club’s No.1 since arriving from Empoli in the summer of 2023, but has yet to play under new head coach Roberto De Zerbi after undergoing hernia surgery during the March international break. Even though the Italian goalkeeper recovered and was available to face Chelsea on Tuesday evening, De Zerbi decided to stick with No.2 Antonin Kinsky.

The rumours of Vicario moving to Inter Milan at the end of the season have been heating up in recent weeks, something the N17 bosses must take notice of. After a series of high-profile mistakes across three seasons in North London, Tottenham must sanction Vicario’s sale if the right offer comes in and replace him with a reliable shot-stopper.

Tottenham receive boost in the pursuit of Serie A goalkeeper

Recent reports suggest that Roberto De Zerbi is keen to sign Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio. If Spurs avoid relegation on the final day of the campaign, they could pursue a move for the experienced glovesman.

Michele Di Gregorio has endured a tough season with Juventus. The Italian goalkeeper was dropped by coach Luciano Spalletti in favour of Mattia Perin, although Di Gregorio remains the club’s No.1. And now there has been developments surrounding the futures of the Juventus goalkeepers.

According to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale on X, Juventus will be open to evaluating offers for Di Gregorio should the right price arrive in the summer transfer window. Luciano Spalletti is an admirer of Perin and does not want to let him go. He is likely to stay put, with Turin giants pursuing Liverpool star Alisson Becker to potentially replace Di Gregorio.

Di Gregorio would be a sensible signing for Tottenham

Amid an underwhelming campaign, Di Gregorio has still managed to keep 17 clean sheets in 36 games across all competitions. The 28-year-old perhaps needs a change of scenery to get his career back on track, and Tottenham must look to provide him with that opportunity.

At 28 years of age, the ex-Monza man has his best years as a goalkeeper ahead of him, and Juventus are willing to listen to offers for him in the summer transfer window. He is comfortable with the ball at his feet, commands the box well and can claim crosses without much fuss, making Di Gregorio an instant upgrade on his compatriot Vicario.

Tottenham need a calming and reliable presence in their last line of defence, and the Juve man ticks that box.
