Casemiro farewell tribute planned

Old Trafford is set to be a stadium full of emotion on Sunday lunchtime, as Brazilian star Casemiro says his final farewells to Manchester United fans ahead of his departure at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old admitted in January that he knew the importance of knowing how to “say goodbye when you feel that you will be remembered and respected forever,” and that he would leave the club at the end of his contract at the end of the season.

Before Manchester United’s final home match of the 2025/26 season, the club is set to pay tribute to the great Casemiro, after the expected announcement of Michael Carrick as permanent manager.

On the club’s official website on Saturday, Manchester United wrote, ‘We encourage supporters to arrive early, take your seats and pay close attention to the Stretford End as Michael Carrick’s Reds walk out of the tunnel for kick-off.

‘Fans’ group The Red Army is preparing to unveil a large surfer banner paying tribute to Casemiro before his final appearance at the Theatre of Dreams.

‘The design was presented to the Brazilian at Carrington earlier this month and given his seal of approval. It will be unfurled from the west stand tier two, draping down over tier one as the United and Nottingham Forest players emerge.’

It’s set to be a special occasion, as Casemiro graces the hallowed turf of the Theatre of Dreams one last time.

Since joining Manchester United in 2022, Casemiro has played 159 times, scoring 22 goals. In his time at the club, United have won the League Cup and FA Cup, and reached the FA Cup Final on another occasion, as well as the Europa League Final in 2024/25.

The tribute for Casemiro is one truly deserved and fitting. While he has had tough periods in his four-year stint at the club, he leaves as a hero and a player who will prove hard to replace.
