Chelsea officially sign Morgan Rogers

Chelsea are pushing hard with their summer rebuild as new manager Xabi Alonso has secured a massive signing in the form of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

The attacker has been with the England squad for the start of the summer at the 2026 World Cup, helping the side to reach the semi-finals.

However, now the games are over and he has some down time before pre-season training starts, hel’ll be preparing to start a new chapter at Stamford Bridge.

The £117 million deal has seen Rogers leave Villa Park, and Chelsea have now taken to their official site to confirm the move.

In a statement revealing their new signing, Chelsea confirmed: “Chelsea is delighted to announce the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.”

It continued: “The 23-year-old forward has signed a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2033 and will join Xabi Alonso’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.”

Now, speaking for the first time as a Blues player, Morgan Rogers commented: “I’m so excited. For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I’ve always admired since I was a kid.”

He continued: “I’m really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we’ve got and where the club is heading. That’s why I’m here and I can’t wait to get started.”

While this is a massive move for Chelsea, and for Villa, their transfer business may not yet be over, as Unai Emery is wanting Alejandro Garnacho to come the other way on loan, as part of a separate deal.

Now that Rogers is preparing to settle at Stamford Bridge, it marks another player that Manchester United have looked to who has settled elsewhere after missing out on Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes.

However, this wont have a massive impact for United, as the signings of Andrey Santos from Chelsea, Youri Tielemans from Aston Villan and Karl Darlow as a free agent are understood to be only a part of The Red Devils summer plans.
