Cristiano Ronaldo continues to make headlines both on and off the pitch.
The Manchester United legend recently confirmed that, despite Portugal’s disappointing Round of 16 exit at the 2026 World Cup, he has no intention of retiring from international football.
Instead, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner hopes to continue representing his country through to UEFA Euro 2028 while also chasing the 1,000-goal milestone with Al Nassr.
Away from the pitch, Ronaldo has also been increasingly involved in football ownership following his investment in Spanish football earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Athletic Club have also featured in recent United news.
Former academy goalkeeper Darlington Osuchukwu completed a permanent move to the Basque side this summer.
Now, another player has officially left Athletic Club in a move connected to Ronaldo’s growing football portfolio.
UD Almeria have officially announced the signing of experienced midfielder Mikel Vesga from Athletic Club on a permanent deal until June 2029.
Cristiano Ronaldo purchased a 25 per cent stake in Almeria back in February.
Vesga arrives after spending the majority of his career with Athletic Club, where he established himself as one of LaLiga’s most dependable midfielders.
The left-footed holding midfielder has more than 250 LaLiga appearances.
He also brings valuable experience in European competition.
Standing at 1.90 metres tall, the 33-year-old is capable of operating both as a defensive midfielder and in a more advanced central role thanks to his tactical intelligence, positioning and ability in possession.
Almeria described Vesga as a leader who will add balance, experience and quality to the middle of the pitch.
He becomes the club’s sixth new signing of the summer following the arrivals of Popovic, Quim, Pulido, Alex Sola and Cipenga, while Miguel de la Fuente and Horta also completed permanent moves.
With Ronaldo now involved behind the scenes at Almeria, the former United icon has officially overseen another experienced addition as preparations continue for the 2026/27 campaign.
