Erik ten Hag calls out reporter questioning his credibility after Manchester United’s FA Cup win: 'You don’t have any knowledge about football'

Erik ten Hag was in no mood for reporters’ questions as he celebrated his team’s ‘unexpected’ victory in the FA Cup final by beating rivals Manchester City 2-1 at the Wembley Stadium.

The Dutchman delivered some much-needed silverware for the Red Devils even though he waited till the final day of their season to do so. Following the game, Ten Hag lashed out at a reporter who claimed that he was “nowhere near where he needed to be“.

Sorry to say this, but you don't have any knowledge about football and about managing a football team. Erik ten Hag said in a press conference

The United boss did not hold back from giving the reporters a taste of their own medicine after the final. From constantly throwing questions regarding his position at the club to targeting him for his failures, many have criticized the English media for their treatment of the United boss.

However, it is unclear whether Ten Hag has still managed to salvage his season with the Red Devils. Nobody has forgotten the fact that United finished the Premier League season at an all-time low in eighth.

Moreover, they were also eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in the group stage. As per several reports, United will sack Ten Hag despite him winning the FA Cup.

A closer look at how Manchester United ‘outclassed’ City in the FA Cup final

There are very few games where Manchester City go into not being favorites. The Red Devils were on the back of a season nothing short of disastrous as they took to the pitch against City on Saturday. Man United, however, mustered a 2-1 win against their ‘biggest’ rivals to lift the FA Cup trophy in front of a packed crowd at Wembley.

A quick look at the statistics for the game shows that United had very less of the ball to work with. With just 26% of possession over 90 minutes of football, many fans called it a tactical masterclass from Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman saw his side go ahead from a defensive error by Josko Gvardiol and Stefan Ortega. The ball fell invitingly for Alejandro Garnacho who made no mistake to tap it into an empty net.

Not even ten minutes had passed before United scored the goal which would eventually win them the game. Marcus Rashford switched the ball deep from his own half to find Garnacho on the wing.

The Argentine then found Bruno Fernandes in front of goal who expertly guided his pass to an unmarked Kobbie Mainoo with a no-look pass. The youngster comfortably slotted it past Ortega to make it 2-0. A late goal from Jeremy Doku was too little too late for the Cityzens.
