Daniel Levy set to make a decision on Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham very soon

Ange Postecoglou continues to fight for his job at Tottenham Hotspur, as chairman Daniel Levy prepares for a new era.

The Australian delivered the North Londoners their first trophy in 17 years in May but also oversaw the club’s worst-ever Premier League campaign. His future needs resolving before Spurs completely focus on incomings and outgoings after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

Despite winning the Europa League, the feeling is that Daniel Levy is still going to sack Ange Postecoglou, with his frailties in the Premier League a big reason behind that. Levy is still evaluating his options internally, although Postecoglou remains confident of continuing at Tottenham. The 59-year-old lived up to his promise of winning silverware in his second season, which has certainly boosted his confidence of staying at the club for the third successive year.

Now, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has delivered the latest update on Postecoglou’s future. He states Tottenham are expected to make a decision on their head coach’s future “very soon”, with Levy and decision-makers at the club internally assessing options.

“Daniel Levy, Tottenham chairman, is expected to make a decision on the future of Ange Postecoglou,” Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“Postecoglou in public and also speaking in private to people close to him, has always been confident on continuing at Tottenham, believing that he had the possibility to win a title after 17 years, and so to continue at the club.

“But internally at Tottenham, they are still assessing options. No final decision has been made, but it’s going to come very soon by Daniel Levy.”

Ange has been on thin ice for months now as Spurs tottered in the bottom half of the table. The Lilywhites managed just one win in their final 12 league games, a 3-1 victory over bottom-placed Southampton at home, and finished outside the Premier League’s top 15 for the first time in their history.

Tottenham have seemingly held talks with Brentford’s Thomas Frank among several other managers with hopes of progressing next season, though there remains a long list of candidates to take replace Big Ange. Thomas Frank has gained the more traction in recent weeks after guiding Brentford to 10th in the Premier League last season. FA Cup-winning Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has also been linked, but he has snubbed the opportunity of managing Spurs to stay at Selhurst Park.

While Ange did the unthinkable by delivering the Europa League trophy during an injury-ravaged campaign, Levy should part ways with him and hire a new coach. A fresh face with new ideas and flexible approach is required to lead the club into the 2025/26 season after struggling domestically throughout the most recent campaign.
