Fabrizio Romano: Mykhaylo Mudryk says YES to Tottenham move

Tottenham are exploring a shock move for Chelsea winger.

Reliable journalist David Ornstein reported on Sunday that Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement in principle with Everton for Iliman Ndiaye, with Richarlison heading in the opposite direction. Both players are set to undergo medicals and agree on personal terms before completing their respective moves.

However, in a massive turn of events, Spurs have fallen behind Manchester City in the race to sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton. Liverpool rejecting a big-money bid for Cody Gakpo has led to Manchester City switching their focus to signing Ndiaye. A £65m worth package has been agreed between the clubs, and the Senegalese international has been authorised to travel to Manchester on Tuesday to undergo his medical.

This has sent shockwaves across the Tottenham camp, leading the club chiefs to look elsewhere for alternatives. And it looks like Roberto De Zerbi is about to be reunited with his former protégé.

Chelsea winger agrees to join Tottenham

According to transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano on X , Chelsea winger Mykhaylo Mudryk has said ‘yes’ to join Tottenham. He has put all other options, including Leeds United, on the backburner in order to work with Roberto De Zerbi again. Discussions between Tottenham and Chelsea are currently underway over a loan deal.

Spurs have been exploring late moves for players before the summer transfer window closes, as De Zerbi continues to reshape his attacking options. Despite signing Savio and Omar Marmoush from Man City last week, the Italian tactician wants to beef up his offensive unit. And he wants to bring in Mykhaylo Mudryk from Chelsea, a player he knows well from their time together at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Mudryk is now eligible to play following the end of his 20-month suspension at Chelsea. The Ukrainian international returned to training with Chelsea during pre-season, but with the Blues well-stocked in wide areas, they are open to sanctioning a loan departure to help him secure regular minutes and rebuild his career. The winger prefers to stay in the Premier League, and after being courted by Leeds United, he has decided to become a part of De Zerbi’s forces across the capital.

Having spent so much money this summer, well in excess of £300million, a loan deal for Mudryk will work well for Spurs. It will be wise not to commit to signing the Ukrainian permanently from our bitter rivals, given the uncertainty around his fitness and match sharpness over the best part of two years.
