Manchester United fans have grown frustrated after the club’s prolonged pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo hit another snag ahead of the 2025/26 season.
After finishing 15th in the Premier League last year, many supporters expected Ineos to overhaul the squad. But with just over a month to go before the new campaign, only Matheus Cunha has arrived through the door.
Mbeumo was rumoured to be a key target early on, but negotiations with Brentford have dragged on for weeks without a breakthrough.
Recent reports suggest that Manchester United are still nowhere near closing a deal for Mbeumo, adding to the growing frustration among fans.
Ruben Amorim had hoped to have his squad sorted before heading to the United States, but that hasn’t happened.
The club still hasn’t met Brentford’s £70m asking price, which has only added to the frustration around Old Trafford.
“This deal should have been done in one day, with one phone call,” Goldstein said.
“Let’s just say that United get what they want and save £4 million. You’ve lost that. You might have financially saved, but what has it done to morale and support?
“Why are we only going for one player at a time? You look at Spurs, they’ve signed Kudus from West Ham, all of a sudden, you turn the page and they want Morgan Gibbs-White.
“I do not know what the people behind the scenes at my club, Manchester United, are doing. In fact I do… nothing.
“Where’s our people? Where are the other players we are linked to? It stinks of amateur hour.”
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano maintains that United’s pursuit of Mbeumo is still alive, but it’s clear there hasn’t been much progress towards an agreement.
The focus on Mbeumo has meant that other areas of need have been ignored this summer. Amorim had hoped for moves in midfield and attack as well but hasn’t seen much movement there either.
The club missed out on Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres earlier in the window, while talks with Benjamin Sesko never gained any traction. There is growing concern that if nothing changes soon, even Mbeumo could slip through their fingers too.
