Five Thousand Buckie Thistle fans heading to Paradise

Celtic have handed Buckie Thistle a more than generous 5,000 briefs for the upcoming Scottish cup tie at Celtic park later this month.

The Moray minnows were pitted against the Scottish Cup holders and League Champions in a dream tie when the draw was made several weeks ago, and I’m sure they will do their best to sell their allocation despite it being around half the population of the town of Buckie itself.

Buckie Thistle’s commercial director Daniel Farquhar said, as reported by Scottish Sun: “Celtic have been tremendous to deal with and we appreciate very much their willingness to give us 5,000 tickets. We’ll look to sell them all.

“So many people are looking to go to Glasgow for the match and we’re delighted to provide a good opportunity. Celtic told us that Feyenoord asked for the same amount of tickets for their recent Champions League match.

“That’s a remarkable comparison. But it underlines the enthusiasm everyone with Buckie Thistle at heart is showing for the cup tie. It really is a once-in-a-lifetime match for us.

“Excitement has been growing ever since the draw. It would be fantastic to have 5,000 fans backing the team at Parkhead. By the amount of tickets they’re giving us Celtic have recognised how big a day it’s going to be for Buckie Thistle — and we are grateful.”

Not only will it be good to see a huge green and white away support for the game on 21st January, it will put a few noses out of joint and upset all the right people, or should I say peepul.

Yes our rivals across the city will no doubt have a few choice words (when don’t they?) about the decision to hand the minnows of Buckie such a huge allocation, when their own supporters can’t even get one ticket to Paradise.

You know what? It serves them right as we know fine well it’s all down to their own childish behaviour that they remain locked out.

The good folk of Buckie will be more than welcome in Paradise, unlike the deplorable supporters of the latest Ibrox club anyway. We looked forward to welcoming them.
