Celtic loanee Marco Tilio has spoken about rediscovering his form and expressed how much he is relishing his spell with Melbourne City…
After a debut season in Scotland hampered by injuries, the 23-year-old winger returned to his former side to regain the form that initially caught Brendan Rodgers’ eye in the summer of 2023.
“If I’m being completely honest, I think I’m in a better position now than what I was back then,” Tilio said speaking to A-League reporters. “I’ve matured a lot in the last couple of years.”
“I had my first injury going over to Scotland, and pretty much ridden all those waves, and here I am now. Since I moved to Celtic, I’ve just been looking to find consistent game time, consistently in playing and in my body feeling confident in that again. Here I am now in that position, and I’m really glad where I am.”
The Australian forward has featured 17 times in the top tier of Aussie football this season, contributing five goals and five assists across all competitions. His current contract with the Hoops runs until the summer of 2028, leaving three years remaining.
When asked about the key to his recent resurgence, Tilio explained: “It’s just consistency. I’ve found it hard to find consistency over the last couple of years with injury rides and whatnot.”
“Just confident, consistent game time, and I know what I can bring to the team. Back at Celtic, I speak to team managers, and there’s a loans manager who reaches out after most games.”
In his most recent match, Tilio provided an assist as Melbourne City secured a 3-0 victory over Western United in the first leg of the A-League semi-final. Tilio faced off against defender Dylan Leonard, who has recently outlined his desire to join Celtic one day.
