The details behind Simone Inzaghi’s move to Al Hilal have been revealed by his agent Federico Pastorello, who explained how the transfer developed over time and the key factors behind the former Inter coach’s decision.
Speaking to Sport Mediaset, with quotes via FCInterNews, Pastorello clarified that the deal was not something arranged overnight.
“It’s a transfer that obviously doesn’t happen in four days – there’s a lot of work behind it,” he said.
“We had already explored this kind of opportunity before, but he never wanted to enter into the details of a potential agreement until certain things had happened.”
According to the agent, Inzaghi had been clear about his intentions while still in charge of Inter.
“He told me that if he had won the Champions League, he would never have left Inter,” Pastorello revealed.
“The decision came after the final in Munich and the subsequent talks with the club’s management, even if some groundwork had been done beforehand.”
The financial package from Al Hilal played a role.
However, Pastorello stressed that Inzaghi was also motivated by the desire to test himself abroad.
“The economic aspect mattered, of course, but he wanted a new challenge outside Italy,” he said. “The Saudi league is now one of the most important in the world.
“Not only for its resources, but also for its growing quality.
“Al Hilal is the biggest club in Asia in terms of history and supporters.”
