Former scout makes Kai Havertz claim while discussing Timo Werner future at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur wide forward Timo Werner has been subject to massive criticisms owing to his output (or lack of output) in the offensive line. The lack of clinical presence has come under massive speculation, and many suggest that it could be the beginning of the end of his time at White Hart Lane.

The Lilywhites hold the German international on loan from RB Leipzig, and there have been reports (h/t Give Me Sport) suggesting that Spurs will not bring the 28-year-old on a permanent transfer at the conclusion of the ongoing campaign, with Australian head coach Ange Postecoglou looking to bring an upgrade on that left flank.

Former scout Bryan King slams Timo Werner

And former Lilywhites scout Bryan King seconds the claim suggesting that Tottenham should not be looking to sign Werner on a permanent transfer. King suggests how he wasn’t a fan of Werner or Kai Havertz when they initially arrived at Chelsea but acknowledges how Havertz has upped his game at Arsenal and how Werner has failed to do the same.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:

“I don’t see what Werner would bring to the team if he was signed permanently.”

“We’re starting to see why his value has gone down because his performance levels have dropped dramatically.”

“I didn’t fancy Havertz or Werner when they joined Chelsea. However, Havertz has stepped up at Arsenal. Werner certainly hasn’t stepped up, and he was arguably a bigger name when he joined Chelsea than Havertz was.”

“Werner should be pushing Son Heung-min, Brennan Johnson or Dejan Kulusevski for their places, but he isn’t. He looks like a very ordinary player.”

Timo Werner did score his first of the season earlier this week against Manchester City as the North Londoners got the better of Pep Guardiola’s side in the fourth-round Carabao Cup at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, he will have to start doing much more if he were to rejuvinate his time at the club and find a way to earn a contract under Ange Postecoglou.
