Inter are lurking to see whether they could add a reliable wing-back for cheap after missing out on Joao Cancelo and recently kicked the tires on a reunion with Ivan Perisic, who would be more than happy to come back, but PSV stopped it, Fabrizio Romano reports (via Fantacalcio).
The Nerazzurri made a few calls to see whether the veteran could depart mid-season, but his team stonewalled them, at least for now. There’s no release clause in his contract, which lasts until 2027. The 37-year-old is still going strong and has posted 4 goals and 10 assists in 24 games this campaign. He spent time at Tottenham and Hajduk Split after leaving San Siro in 2022.
Inter aren’t scrambling for a new piece but could seize an opportunity, Perisic or somebody else, if something they liked popped up. President Giuseppe Marotta revealed to DAZN (via MSN) before the Lecce win that they were hopeful Denzel Dumfries would return relatively soon and that it wasn’t easy to find worthy reinforcements in January.
According to Calciomercato, the Nerazzurri asked for Dan Ndoye when Nottingham Forest inquired about Davide Frattesi. They have been attached to Nahuel Molina, but he’s unlikely to move, and Galatasaray’s Wilfried Singo. They have also examined Al-Ittihad’s Roger Fernandes, who hasn’t settled in too well in Saudi Arabia, but his side paid €32M to sign him last summer, and he has lofty wages.
This kind of patch would have made sense at the beginning of the window to better cope with the busy schedule, but they are almost out of the woods at this point, so they should be thinking long-term if they did anything, although he’d be able to play in several roles.
