Inter Miami have a lot riding on their shoulders heading into the Leagues Cup quarter-finals clash against Tigres UNAL. The Herons are eyeing a second consecutive Leagues Cup title, after clinching the title in the first edition of the competition last season.
With all eyes on the MLS side, rumors have been circulating over Lionel Messi's presence for the game. The Argentine star has been suffering from hamstring issues this season, forcing him to sit out multiple games.
However, with stakes at an all-time high, Inter Miami fans will hope to see their captain in action, hoping to secure their place in the semi-finals. The Argentine was in action against LA Galaxy in the team's previous fixture, guiding his team to a much-needed win.
Inter Miami head coach Xavier Mascherano talked about the Argentine's presence for the game against the Tigres, stating, “We’ll see how he feels during the day [Wednesday], but he's not ruled out of playing. I can’t tell you today whether he'll play or not, because it depends a lot on how he feels.”
While Messi was a part of the team against LA Galaxy, the Argentine was the first to get inside the dressing room following the final whistle, with the player seen bending over and stretching his right leg at multiple points.
