Few expected Thomas Frank to make such a significant impact at Tottenham Hotspur in such a short space of time. Yet, the Danish tactician has exceeded all expectations, guiding the Lilywhites to third place in the Premier League, just two points behind leaders Arsenal. With his side looking confident and cohesive, Spurs are now in a strong position to mount a serious top-four challenge this season.
Credit must go to Frank, who has stayed true to his promise of ensuring Tottenham compete strongly on all four fronts. Under the former Brentford boss, the Lilywhites have also made their best start to a Champions League campaign in recent years, picking up four points from their opening two fixtures in the competition.
Another encouraging sign for Spurs is their seven-game unbeaten run across all competitions heading into the October international break. While some might argue the timing of the break could disrupt their rhythm, the run provides Frank with a solid platform to build on as he aims to keep Tottenham firmly in the top-four mix heading into the festive period.
It’s also clear that Tottenham are far more resilient and structured this season compared to last. Frank’s tactical approach has made the Lilywhites compact, organised, and difficult to break down, even against technically gifted opponents. Beyond structure, however, the Dane has also managed to bring out the best in his players, giving them the freedom to express themselves within his disciplined system.
Echoing the same view, Sol Campbell has now heaped praise on Frank following Tottenham’s strong start to the season. Speaking to GiveMeSport, Campbell said,
“I think he’s made a really good [start]. You know, a positive approach, a fresh approach to the game. You know, they came close against PSG, almost, you know, just lost on penalties against them, he started really top football, with fresh eyes upon it.”
The ex-Spurs defender added,
“And maybe he’s doing something simple, in a sense that allowing players just to be a bit freer, maybe taking a bit more pressure on him, and less pressure on the players. I think, you know, it’s been a great start for them. Who knows what’s going to happen. But the main thing is, it’s positive.”
Sol Campbell believes Thomas Frank’s positive approach at Tottenham has helped the club enjoy a positive start to the season. By absorbing the pressure himself and allowing his squad to perform with freedom and confidence, the Danish tactician has fostered a sense of unity and belief within the camp. Campbell also believes that the Lilywhites will be alright if they continue to perform like they have until now under the Dane.
For Spurs supporters, the hope is that Frank can continue to build on last season’s Europa League triumph and transform Tottenham into a team capable of consistently challenging for silverware. If he succeeds in turning Spurs into serial winners, it would undoubtedly secure his place among the club’s most celebrated managers in modern history.
