Chelsea have started this season without a loss, but John Terry says they still need to bring in a player like one from Liverpool if they want to be title contenders year after year.
Even with the club’s heavy investment in Enzo Maresca this summer, Terry still views Liverpool as the favourites to win it all.

Arne Slot was given plenty of backing too, with Liverpool coming out as the highest spenders in the league during that window.
After breaking back into the top four last season, expectations are naturally higher now. The next step for Chelsea is clear – they need to start pushing for another Premier League title.
Although the club spent £296.5million over the summer to strengthen the squad, Terry feels they’re still missing a high-profile addition.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Terry said the club needs to start competing for marquee names again, pointing to Alexander Isak’s recent move to Liverpool for a British record fee of £125million as an example.
“I’m not sure Isak’s coming to Chelsea,” he added, “but I’d love to see us in the mix with those types of signings if we want to be back at our very, very best at the top winning Premier League’s year after year. I think that’s the only thing we are probably missing at the moment is those marquee signings.”
Terry has spoken before about how Gianfranco Zola’s arrival made a huge impression on him during his early days at Stamford Bridge and it seems he wants Chelsea back making that kind of statement.
Chelsea have a long history of attracting headline names, from Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku through to Eden Hazard, all brought in when their stock was high across Europe.
While Chelsea didn’t bring in any blockbuster signings during the summer, they were still one of the more active clubs in the window.
Enzo Maresca’s team made several changes up front, with Liam Delap and Joao Pedro both joining and quickly settling into their roles at Stamford Bridge.
Elsewhere, Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato have all been added to the squad as well, helping Chelsea remain unbeaten through their first three matches.
But it’s Estevao Willian who has made the biggest impression so far. The teenager has already delivered some standout performances and is quickly becoming a fan favourite.
The Brazilian also scored his first international goal over the break, which might challenge Terry’s view that only big-name signings can make a real impact.
Cole Palmer showed last season how a player can rise to prominence after joining from Manchester City, and Estevao now seems poised to do something similar this year.
