The inaugural Messi Cup will start on December 9 and will last until December 14. The tournament will be held in Miami.
Messi announced the eight teams that will participate in the tournament, which include Inter Miami, FC Barcelona, and Newell's Old Boys, his boyhood club.

The eight professional academies will participate in the U-16 tournament. This new youth tournament could be seen as a prestigious tournament at the youth level due to Messi's involvement in the project.
Other leagues like La Liga have been involved in holding youth tournaments where young star players like Gavi, Xavi Simons, Alejandro Garnacho, and Lamine Yamal have participated when they were younger.
