Reports in the UK claim that Liverpool are closing in on the signing of 18-year-old Italy talent Giovanni Leoni, who has been linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs after an impressive breakthrough season in Serie A with Parma.
According to reports from Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are ‘very close’ to reaching a full agreement with Parma for young centre-back Leoni, who had also been linked with moves to both Inter and Milan this summer.
Wednesday’s update claims that Liverpool are close to sealing a deal for a price tag in the region of €34.75m (£30m). Football Italia understands that Parma have been holding firm with their valuation of €40m, a price that is likely going to be too much for either Milan or Inter this summer.
The Rossoneri have instead gone for a cheaper and more experienced option in Koni De Winter from Genoa, while Inter are focused on their pursuit of Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman for the time being.
For Leoni, a move to Anfield, where he would find Federico Chiesa, appears to be increasingly likely.
