ESPN’s Mark Ogden was asked whether the Red Devils will pursue ter Stegen to solve their goalkeeping crisis, with André Onana set to miss the start of the season with an injury.
“He could be, but he’s not played,” Ogden said. “I mean, he’s not played for about a year, has he? So I think if ter Stegen is the option, that would be… I think it’d be way down the list because that would be a gamble. United have made a lot of gambles over the years.
“Obviously, ter Stegen is a great goalkeeper when he’s at the top of his game and he’s fit, but he’s not played for a long time at any real level. So I think ter Stegen would be… That’d be a concern if you’re not ending up with ter Stegen, probably at the end of August when they’re panicking.”
