Middlesbrough pulls off another FA Cup upset with win over Tottenham Hotspur

A month after Middlesbrough booted Manchester United from the 2021-22 FA Cup in the first week of February, the EFL Championship team upset another Premier League team Tuesday with a 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

The only goal of the match came in extra time when 19-year-old Josh Coburn, who subbed on in extra time, broke loose in the box and blasted a shot into the back of the net.

With the win, Middlesbrough join Crystal Palace and Manchester City on the list of teams that have qualified for the quarterfinals. The FA Cup is an annual tournament open to any club down to the tenth level of English soccer.

Notable upsets of the tournament so far included third-tier Cambridge United beating the Premier League's Newcastle United and sixth-tier Kidderminster Harriers beating second-tier Reading.

The draw for the quarterfinals of the FA Cup will be held March 3.
