Real Madrid revive transfer talks for Liverpool star

Real Madrid have serious issues in their squad that go beyond the conversation about egos or the manager, aas they have fallen short for several transfer windows at fortifying areas other than big name attackers like Kylian Mbappe.

Los Blancos did upgrade their defense this past summer transfer window by signing young left back Alvaro Carreras and young center back Dean Huijsen of Bournemouth fame, but those two upgrades, while useful, have proven insufficient.

Real Madrid still clearly need more help at the center back position, and after showing a high degree of interest in Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate, the Merengues cooled off their transfer interest abruptly after watching the Frenchman struggle for form.

Konate has improved again, and with Dayot Upamecano staying with Bayern Munich and now Marc Guehi freshly joining Manchester City in the winter transfer window, Real Madrid are back to their best – and only free agent – option.

According to a report from Matteo Moretto of MARCA, Real Madrid are now back in the Ibrahima Konate transfer race and have opened up talks with the agent of the Liverpool star.

Konate would be a welcome upgrade over Antonio Rudiger and would join Eder Militao and Huijsen as the three top center backs. Given Militao’s injury woes, Konate would be a regular starter for Real Madrid, spelling the young Huijsen and then Militao whenever the Brazilian is out.
