September is a ‘make or break’ month for the fate of AC Milan and Inter Milan’s joint bid to purchase San Siro and the surrounding areas.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the clubs are proceeding with optimism.

Despite maintaining a certain baseline confidence, the Milanese clubs are facing further setbacks.

Indeed, after the city postponed its decision until September, another delay seems to be on the cards.

That would land a hammer blow on the San Siro sides’ bid to build a new stadium in the area.

A further delay could push the sale process into early November, jeopardizing the entire deal.

Furthermore, historical-architectural protections on the stadium’s second tier would then take effect, preventing any demolition.

Therefore, the clubs’ best chance of purchasing the site is to get the city’s permission in September.

Meanwhile, Milan mayor Beppe Sala has already outlined his ambition to help the Serie A giants complete their project.

As ever, politics is throwing a spanner in the works.
