Cagliari will face stiff competition from Borussia Monchengladbach in the race to sign Inter Milan center-forward Sebastiano Esposito.
According to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, Die Fohlen have inquired about the 23-year-old amid Cagliari’s attempt to purchase the striker.
Inter boss Cristian Chivu has deemed Esposito surplus to requirements.
Therefore, the Serie A giants have put the ex-Empoli loanee on the market.
After Fiorentina’s busted attempt to sign the Italian ace, Cagliari have established themselves as the favorites.
Cagliari would preferably sign Sebastiano Esposito on loan with an option to buy.
However, Inter are keen to sell their misfit immediately, as they need cash to pursue other transfer targets.
While the Sardinians cannot match Inter’s expectations, Monchengladbach are willing to negotiate a permanent deal.
As such, the Bundesliga outfit could hijack Cagliari’s efforts to bring Esposito to the Unipol Domus.
Meanwhile, Inter must get Esposito off their wage bill to make room for a new attacking arrival.
RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda has become a concrete target for the Nerazzurri.
